Thanksgiving pears are a hardy pear with a sweet, crisp flavor found at an old homestead along the Alapaha River in Georgia. They ripen in late fall and hold on the tree until Thanksgiving! Disease resistant. Traditional pear shape fruit is excellent for deer and wildlife, and will bring them in throughout the hunting season. Bears fruit in 3-5 years.

Pruning | Pear trees should be pruned annually in the winter when they are dormant. Please refer to the Pruning section under "How to plant and grow" in our Learning Center. |
Fertilization | Do not fertilize at planting. Once the trees are established, fertilize in early spring (Mar-April) as growth begins. Do not fertilize in the fall, which could promote late season tender growth that can be damaged by early frosts. |
Watering | Newly planted trees should be watered regularly. This is the most critical step in the establishment of your new trees. Please see the Watering section under "How to plant and grow" in our Learning Center. |
