The Flordaprince Peach (Prunus persica ‘Flordaprince’), released by the University of Florida in 1982, is one of the most trusted low-chill peach varieties ever developed for warm climates. Renowned for its exceptionally early ripening, Flordaprince is often among the first peaches of the season, delivering premium fruit when demand is highest. This Southern favorite produces large, firm peaches with a striking 80% red blush accented by dark red striping over a golden-yellow background, making it as beautiful as it is delicious.
Inside, Flordaprince features melting, sweet yellow flesh surrounding a semi-clingstone pit, offering excellent texture and flavor for fresh eating, desserts, and preserves. Requiring fewer than 300 chill hours, this peach thrives in warm, mild-winter regions, including much of the Southeast, Gulf Coast, Texas, and similar climates where traditional peaches often struggle. Its adaptability, dependable fruit set, and early harvest have cemented Flordaprince as a go-to variety for home orchards and commercial growers alike.
For growers seeking an early-season, low-chill peach tree with proven performance, beautiful fruit, and classic peach flavor, Flordaprince remains one of the best choices available.

| Pruning | Prune peach trees in late winter by removing dead wood, thinning the center for airflow, shortening side branches to 3-4 buds, and cutting away suckers to encourage healthy growth and fruiting. Once mature, peaches should be pruned yearly for best fruit production. |
| Fertilization | Do not fertilize at planting. Once the trees are established, fertilize in early spring (Mar-April) as growth begins. Do not fertilize in the fall, which could promote late season tender growth that can be damaged by early frosts. |
| Watering | Newly planted trees should be watered regularly. This is the most critical step in the establishment of your new trees. Please see the Watering section under "How to plant and grow" in our Learning Center. |
