The Traveler Blackberry is a top-tier thornless blackberry variety celebrated for its large, firm, deep-black berries and richly sweet, juicy flavor. Bred for adaptability, vigor, and disease resistance, Traveler produces high-quality fruit perfect for fresh eating, jams, pies, preserves, desserts, and market sales. Its berries offer a smooth texture, balanced sweetness, and excellent firmness—traits that make it a standout for both home gardeners and commercial growers seeking reliable, premium fruit.
With an erect growth habit, Traveler stands upright with minimal support, though light trellising can enhance airflow, harvest ease, and overall production. This variety is especially suited for warmer regions thanks to its low chill requirement (300–400 chill hours) and strong performance across USDA Zones 5–9. Highly resistant to common blackberry diseases—including rust and mold—Traveler offers low-maintenance care, consistent yields, and the durability growers value in an edible landscape.
For anyone looking to plant a thornless, high-yield, sweet-flavored blackberry that thrives with ease and rewards the land with abundant harvests, the Traveler Blackberry is an exceptional choice.

| Pruning | Erect blackberries benefit from summer pruning. Remove the top one to two inches of new primocanes when they are 4' tall. This causes the canes to branch, increasing next year’s yields. Plants will require several pruning sessions to tip each cane as it reaches the four foot height. |
| Fertilization | Do not fertilize at planting. Once the trees are established, fertilize in early spring (Mar-April) as growth begins. Do not fertilize in the fall, which could promote late season tender growth that can be damaged by early frosts. |
| Watering | Newly planted trees should be watered regularly. This is the most critical step in the establishment of your new trees. Please see the Watering section under "How to plant and grow" in our Learning Center. |
