Discover the Arkansas Black Apple tree, prized for its stunning, dark red to nearly black apples and disease resistance. This heirloom variety dates back to the mid-19th century in Arkansas and is beloved for its exceptional flavor and versatility.
- Unique Appearance: Produces medium to large apples with deep, dark red skin (almost black!) and a thin, waxy bloom for an eye-catching finish.
- Flavor & Texture: Enjoy the firm, crisp flesh with a sweet yet slightly tart flavor, making it perfect for fresh eating, baking, and cooking.
- Excellent Storage: Renowned as a “keeper,” Arkansas Black apples stay fresh for months with proper long-term storage.
New trees can produce fruit in 2-3 years depending on care and climate. The success of new trees is heavily dependent on the care received during and after planting.
Needs 500-900 chill hours.

Watering | Newly planted trees should be watered regularly. This is the most critical step in the establishment of your new trees. For best fruit productions, provide moist but well drained soil. Please see the Watering section in our Learning Center. |
