Fuyu Persimmon. The most widely planted cultivar in the world. When fully ripe, this fruit turns a crimson red with a blue blush. An excellent Non- Astringent variety in all respects and is the favorite commercial cultivar in Japan. Cold hardy to USDA plant zones 7-10. New trees can produce fruit in 2-3 years depending on care and climate. The success of new trees is heavily dependent on the care received during and after planting. Persimmons are also commonly used around the world in jellies, drinks, pies, curries, and puddings.

| Pruning | Most persimmon trees require minimal pruning, especially once they’re bearing fruits. Pruning is usually restricted to controlling the tree’s size or removing dead, diseased, and damaged branches. Prune any suckers that develop. |
| Fertilization | It is not recommended to fertilize trees at the time of planting or young trees. Excessive fertilizing may cause premature fruit drop. Apply a balanced slow release fertilizer after the tree is established and begins to break dormancy in spring. |
