Kieffer is a large golden colored fruit with a crimson blush. Hybrid between Pyrus communis and Pyrus pyrifolia. It has crisp, juicy white flesh, coarse texture, and is excellent for canning and baking, considered to be a Sand pear. Pick the fruit and store in a cool place, will sweeten over time as it ripens. Almost immune to fireblight. Better with pollinator. Vigorous and very hardy. Low chill, 350-400 hours, Zones 5-9. Ripens during hunting season, Sept – Oct.

|Fertilization||Do not fertilize at planting. Once the trees are established, fertilize in early spring (Mar-April) as growth begins. Do not fertilize in the fall, which could promote late season tender growth that can be damaged by early frosts.|
